About Me Now

this is dawn, mother of three, wife o’ dave. blogging from riverside, ca the place i never thought i’d live. its not too far from our beloved orange county in terms of miles, but its another civilization altogether. it is the land of pickups, toy-haulers and tats. Stater Brothers. meth labs, farmer boys, bakers and neighbors who tether a real horse in their front yard. its really hot & smoggy in the summer and really windy in the winter. but its home for now and its where we can live in a house without having me work full-time. something you can’t do in oc.

stuff i enjoy: photography, thinking about God’s awesomeness, seeing his body on earth (a.k.a. the church) behaving / loving like its supposed to, bible study fellowship, my kids, my husband’s sense of humor, good coffee, scott william’s barbequed turkey, my alumni friends from bethel (st. paul, mn) who still make me laugh, talking about what God is up to in friends’ lives, a good cs lewis book (is there any other kind?), writing, finding cash in my pockets, mary cassatt paintings, kids’ honesty, traveling on an expense account, meeting other nerds at gis or internet conferences, doing stuff i never thought i could do but God knew all along i could do.

stuff i do not enjoy: mushy okra in chicken gumbo, housework, disneyland when its crowded, cleaning up throw up, cleaning up throw up at disneyland, “churchianity” where going to church is an end in itself (rather than a dynamic relationship with the living God), backseat bickering, unfilled ice cube trays, forgetting names like i do, stretch marks, cheaters, smog.
